The Famous Silkie

There was once a Silkie who wanted to see the world.  She set off one night, and said to Mr. Silkie, “Come with me, please.  I’m going to see the world.”

“Oh, yes!” crowed Mr. Silkie.  “I’ve wanted to leave this coop for years!”

“Thank you, sir,” said Grace.  (Her name was Grace.)

The next day something terrible happened.  Mr. Silkie was walking to Grace’s when a fisher cat came and took him.  The fisher cat rarely eats chickens.  She brings them and puts them in a cell.  The fisher cat’s name was Arra Sing.

Grace set out and found Arra Sing and pecked her and defeated her.  Mr. Silkie had been beaten up badly.  Grae treated his wounds, and they were on their way.

Years passed, and they went to Chicago.  They happened to find a chicken auction.  They traded and got more Silkies, and they were on their way again.

They found New York and got some more Silkies on their team.

Once they were surrounded by foxes.  Mr. Silkie captured them and made them say where a plane was.  The Silkies flew across the ocean and found Russia.  They got some more teammates for the Silkie team.  Together they went to Europe and found more Silkies.  They went to a boat and crossed the ocean to Greenland and lived there for a long time.

Splat!  Splat!

“I can’t go another inch,” said Grace.

“Don’t worry.  We’ll get to the goal soon.  Soon!” said Mr. Silkie.

“You call that soon?  It’ll probably take another two years!  Where are we anyway?” asked the Silkies.

“Mr. Silkie, you’re the wisest one in the team.  Where are we?” asked Grace.

“I don’t know, for crying out loud!  We’re lost!”

“What should we do?”

“I don’t know!  Wait a second.  Look!  Our tracks!  Let’s follow them.  I’m going home,” said Mr. Silkie.

“Me too,” said Grace.

“We don’t like our owners.  We’re coming with you,” said all the Silkie team.  “Race you to the boat!”

Splat, splat, splat, splat, splat!  Splat, splat, splat, splat, splat!

“I won,” said Grace.

“Get on,” said Mr. Silkie.

“NO!!!!!  It’s gone!”

“Look, they’re turning around.  Hop on, Silkies,” said the conductor of the ship.

“We’re going,” said Mr. Silkie.

“Go,” said the captain of the ship.

Years passed, and they were off the boat.

“Look!  Our coop!” said Mr. Silkie.  “Gross!  It’s Arra Sing’s skeleton in the coop.”

“We’re in the coop!  Hi, ho, the dario, we’re in the coop!” yelled all the Silkies.

“Hooray!” said Mr. Silkie.

So from that day on, Grace and the other Silkies said to themselves, “We’ll never leave our coop again.”

And that’s the story of Grace the Silkie.
